Library and Marketing Department Collaboration to Boost Business Development Success

Presenters:
Stacy Rowe, Carolyn Bates, Denise Rabogliatti, Julie Snow-Samanant, and Kristo Sween

Registration:  https://www.legalmarketing.org/e/in/eid=206

Library and Marketing departments have different roles and responsibilities, but they do share one important goal: supporting their firms in maintaining and increasing revenue with current and prospective clients. Leveraging unique skill sets, institutional knowledge, and relationships helps both teams become more efficient and effective.

Join the Minnesota Chapters of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA), the Special Libraries Association (SLA), and the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) for an inside look at how librarians and marketers can join forces to achieve business development success.

During this panel discussion, we will explore the difference between information and intelligence; how intelligence can inform marketing and business development strategies; how department structures are evolving; when to bring in the other party; and how to address potential barriers to collaboration.

Location:
Briggs and Morgan
2200 IDS Center
80 South Eighth Street
Minneapolis, Minnesota 55402

Lunch will be provided.

$20 LMA Members (SLA and MALL members also receive member pricing and must register with a valid discount code. See SLA Connect for the discount code, or email president@minnesota.sla.org.)
$30 Non-Members and any registrations after 9:00 am May 15th

Cookie Cart Volunteer Event!

Are you ready to burst some librarian stereotypes and encourage diversity in a future library workforce?  Please join us to meet and work alongside teens at the Cookie Cart kitchen.  We have the opportunity to talk with teens, hear about their experience at Cookie Cart, and share our stories about what we do and how we got where we are.  Youth employees will get tips on modeling professional behavior, practice their interpersonal skills, and best of all, learn that librarians are not all bun-wearing, book-wielding, “ssshhers”.  In addition to the conversation, we’ll work side-by-side with the youth employees to help scoop fresh dough, hand decorate cookies, and pack orders.

All librarians are welcome.  SLA membership is not required.  Kitchen volunteer capacity is 20 people so please RSVP here if you plan on attending.

Directions/Parking: Cookie Cart is located between Fremont and Emerson on West Broadway Ave.  There is free public parking in a lot directly behind the building as well as on Broadway and Fremont. If parking in the back, volunteers can enter the building through the back door by ringing a buzzer next to the back door.  Upon arrival, volunteers will check in at Cookie Cart’s lobby where they will sign in, get name tags and meet bakery staff who will take the volunteers on a tour before they get started in the bakery.

Attire: Volunteers are asked to dress for comfort since they will be on their feet while working in the bakery. Open-toed shoes are not allowed in the bakery. Any clunky jewelry may need to be removed. There is storage on site where volunteers can lock up belongings. Cookie Cart will provide aprons, hairnets, and rubber gloves.

Questions: email Beth Northcutt, president-elect@minnesota.sla.org
